This project on this current day isn’t entirely done, but I wanted to share some early iterations. This is a documentary shot in a way that is meant to feel homemade and down to earth. It follows a schnauzer rescue, which includes my family and me, as they travel across a couple of states in cargo vans to rescue 23 dogs.
This first cut is long and has a lot of good moments, but it’s missing a lot of story and explanation to ensure everyone knows what’s going on. It needs more interviews, voiceovers, music, etc. Essentially everything to help keep the audience engaged.
The second cut fixes a bit of the length on some of the shots. It is overall still the same length because of the extra shots with dogs, which I felt was and still is an important part of the story. It showcases the aftermath and what’s happening with the dogs presently. The next couple of cuts, still being worked on, will add voiceover explanations, interviews, music, and whatever else will help the story succeed.
I look forward to seeing what I come up with as the final cut once I’ve gathered the remaining elements.
